Mechanism of Action
Blitz 01 also known as polyionene, is a cationic amphiphilic biopolymer that enables killing the microbes through a unique functional mechanism. The image below shows how this biopolymer works to eliminate the microbes :
This polymer will first attach onto the cell membrane of the microbe through strong multivalent ionic interactions between the cationic charges in the polymer and anionic phosphate groups on the microbial membrane. Thereafter, the hydrophobic components in the polymer insert into the lipid domain of the microbial membrane. This leads to membrane disruption and membrane lysis, eventually microbial cell death. Because of the nature of multivalent interaction and physical membrane disruption, repeated use of this would mitigate development of antimicrobial resistance.
Unique properties of Blitz 01
